Job Overview
The Data Analytics Intern will be responsible for assisting the Director of Sports Analytics with collaborating in the design and delivery of data & video analysis to support the Technical Staff in all phases of the game during competitions for Rhode Island FC, a men’s pro soccer club playing in the USL Championship.
**This position is for a seasonal internship, the projected start date is January 1, 2024**
Educational Experience
Educational Experience
- Working towards a four (4) year college/university bachelor’s degree or higher in Sports science, data analytics or related field
- Internship must be for college credit.
Work Experiences
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in video analysis or related field
- Ability to operate a drone or hi-pod
- Preferred Proficiency in Microsoft applications and knowledge of current technologies
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Sports Performance with:
- Preparing opposition scouting reports using quantitative insights to help the team develop game strategy and tactics.
- Maintaining opposition scouting framework with other staff leads, including (but not limited to) video collection and tagging, data profiles and presentation creation.
- Recording, capturing and coding all Club games and training sessions.
- Contribution to the design and delivery of all performance analysis support, including (but not limited to) training, pre-match, in-game, post-match, individual player support, scouting/player monitoring, and team tracking.
- Updating and maintaining video library.
- Collecting, cleaning, and organizing soccer-related data from various sources, such as match reports, player statistics, scouting reports, and performance databases.
- Designing and implementing data collection processes during matches, training sessions, and player evaluations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a workday/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.
- Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a workday/shift. Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
