We are seeking an experienced, reliable, self-motivated Pre-litigation Legal Assistant to join our growing legal team. In this position, you will work alongside our attorneys and act as a customer service representative as well as case manager. Your job duties include performing relevant legal research, assisting an attorney in the initial sign up meetings, setting up files, following up on medical treatment, requesting and organizing medical records and billing, handling property damage claims, filing petitions, preparing legal documents and redlines, drafting correspondence, taking client calls and answering questions about case-related issues, and organizing and maintaining your assigned case files. On a daily basis, you will also be responsible for general administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and scheduling meetings. Our ideal candidate has at least one year of experience in a law firm and is proficient with Microsoft Office. This is a full-time position.
Legal Assistant Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform relevant legal research for active cases
- Prepare the first drafts of memos and other legal documents
- Draft correspondence
- Speak with clients about their cases and answer relevant questions
- Schedule appointments and maintain a detailed calendar
- Maintain and organize files; update files with case status and information
Legal Assistant Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred
- 1 years of experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary
- Familiarity with legal procedures and terminology
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with technology and willingness to learn and adapt
- Great teamwork skills
