Ridgefield Academy/Landmark Preschool is seeking a Head Teacher for our Two’s classroom to join our team on the Ridgefield campus. A strong candidate will have a keen focus on creating an effective rapport with students and motivating them to develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for the next grade level. In this role you will create a flexible educational program and an inviting classroom environment while developing strong relationships with parents and other faculty and staff members.

Responsibilities (include But Not Limited To)
- Teach age-appropriate lessons, utilizing a course of study developed and approved by Landmark Preschool.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and clearly communicate these objectives to students.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Create an effective environment for learning utilizing the tools and resources in the classroom and building.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Work with the student support team to resolve a student’s behavioral and/or academic problem.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments and responsibilities for the assistant teacher(s).
- Evaluate assistant teacher’s performance in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Observe and evaluate students’ academic progress and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
- Perform duties including supervising lunch and rest time and supervising student arrival and dismissal.
- Attend faculty/staff meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence. Serve on various committees.
- Support the use of technology such as computers, SmartBoard and audiovisual aids .
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by professional growth activities.
- Participate in/attend events outside of the regular academic day.
- Create an encouraging atmosphere in which all students support each other.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related subject.
- Teaching certification desired.
- 3 years of classroom teaching experience.
- strong verbal and written communication skills.
- This is a 10-month faculty position.
- Contracted dates for the 2024-2025 academic year are August 21, 2024 - June 17, 2025.
- Hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am-2:00pm; Occasional Wednesday divisional meetings run from 3:45-4:30
- This position reports to the Preschool and Lower School Division Head
