POSITION SUMMARY
The Station Attendant is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of one or more culinary stations, including cold prep, salad bar, deli station, or hot entrée station, in a private school kitchen. The Station Attendant maintains a clean, safe working environment following sanitation principles in food handling and equipment use while following the directions of the Chef Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Prepare ingredients for culinary station according to established recipes and standards
- Ensure proper cooking, heating, seasoning, and packing of dishes at culinary station
- Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels of ingredients and supplies
- Prepares all items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
- Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the Chef Manager
- Communicates effectively with other members of the culinary team
- Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, and organization skills
- Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station
- Performs other duties associated with the position that are reasonably assigned to support the overall needs of the business
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in a school cafeteria kitchen or other institutional environment
- Good knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and knife skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions
- Must have problem solving abilities, be self-motivated and organized
- Ability to take directions and work in a team environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- ServSafe Food Handlers Certification, or the ability to obtain certification in a reasonable timeframe
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle tools, such as knife techniques for chopping, slicing, cutting, and dicing. Ability to stand in one place for hours at a time, handle extreme heat and work shifts. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally life and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
