What are the responsibilities and job description for the Board Member - Volunteer position at River City Brass?

The Mission of River City Brass is to entertain, engage, and educate audiences of all ages by sharing American musical culture in the Pittsburgh region, nationally and internationally.

The Board of River City Brass is currently accepting applications from people who have an interest in serving as a Director.

In this endeavor to expand the Board of Directors, River City Brass is seeking applications from professionals of all backgrounds, including BIPOC and LGBTQ candidates.

The responsibilities of and qualifications for a Board member position follow:

Responsibilities include contributing your professional skills and talents to our organization to:

· Further the mission, goals, strategic plan, and purposes of River City Brass.

· Represent River City Brass in a positive and responsible manner and enhance its public image.

· Serve on at least one committee.

· Attend bi-monthly board meetings (via Zoom)

· Attend two in-person board events per year.

· Contribute an annual monetary donation of personal significance to River City Brass. It is important to our funders that we have 100 percent donor participation from our Board members.

· Vote thoughtfully, considering RCB’s mission.

· Provide guidance in the development and monitoring of the band’s strategic plan.

· Commit 4-5 hours per month to Board activities.

· Provide policy oversight on operations and organizational decision-making.

· Mobilize your network for fundraising events and concert subscription and ticket sales.

Qualifications for the position include:

· A demonstrated passion for music and the arts.

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

· Experience with governance and or leadership as well as collective and participatory decision-making processes.

Experience with marketing, fundraising and other activities to build strong organizational donor and/or community networks.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $0.01 per year
