The Child Development Resource Specialist (CDRS) is a member of the Provider Resource Team. CDRS’ communicate and visit providers regularly to support children receiving services in our Family Child Care Home Education Network (CFCC) program. CDRS’ are resource specialists that support the professional growth of providers, provide resources to parents and present developmentally appropriate activities to children, all while meeting state contract requirements.

In addition, the CDRS will familiarize themselves with the requirements for eligibility on our subsidized childcare program and will work collaboratively with the case management department with screening and enrolling clients.

1. 24 ECE/CD units; experience in the Child Development field

2. Fingerprint clearance on file

3. Bilingual English/Spanish (written and oral)

4. Current Negative TB test

5. Must be authorized to work in the United States

3. Experience with Family Child Care homes

4. Strong organizational skills and ability to do detailed paper work

5. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with various other personnel.

6. Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure within specific timelines.

1. Provide site visits at least once a month to providers with subsidized children in order to complete the following tasks:

  • With the assistance of the provider, complete a DRDP of the subsidized children within 60 days of initial enrollment, and at required intervals thereafter. Maintain children’s portfolios with ongoing samples, anecdotes, notes, photos and other documentation demonstrating the child’s developmental progress. Check enrolled CFCC children status on CARE database regularly.
  • In collaboration with the provider, create a developmental summary utilizing the results of the DRDP. Plan curriculum that will address the psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, language and physical aspects of each child’s development.
  • Provide parent conferences twice per year, in partnership with the provider, to review the findings of the DRDP and discuss the child’s developmental progress and any areas of concern.
  • Plan and prepare activities for each visit based on results and findings of the Environmental Rating Scale and/or the professional development goals.
  • During the facilitation of a demonstrated activity, observe the provider/children’s interactions. Collaborate with the provider to plan subsequent training activities.

2. Collaborate with the Child Development Program Director and the Child Development Resource Team to collate, summarize and analyze the DRDP and FCCERS data annually, and develop action plans for addressing findings.

3. Serve as a liaison between the RCCS office and the provider, fostering mutual respect, communication and collaboration.

4. Asses the health, developmental and social service needs of enrolling families. Work closely with the R&R department provider appropriate referrals and parent support as needed.

5. Communicate with other agencies or professionals as needed to verify of clarify parents need/eligibility; these could be doctors, social workers, CPS workers, counselors etc.

6. Communicate with child care providers regarding contracts, parental eligibility status and provide support regarding child care relationships.

7. Maintain the Provider Lending Library by making sure all material and curriculum kits are organized and accessible.

8. Assist providers and parents with community resource applications such as applications for First 5 mini grants and workshops whenever applicable.

9. Attend team and agency meetings and agency events as needed.

10. Complete all necessary reports.

  • Ability to use computer for basic tasks. Computer use may cause eye and muscle strain, backaches, headaches, and repetitive motion injuries.
  • Ability to sit up to six hours per day with intermittent occasional walking or standing.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver supplies and to transport miscellaneous materials, party, toys or informational supplies, etc.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. up to a height of up to three feet, and go up and down stairs.
  • Possession of a California Driver’s License and automobile liability insurance in the minimum amount of $1,000,000.
  • As you will be visiting provider’s homes, you may come in contact with different allergens.
  • If at any time I am unable to perform the duties due to health issues, I must get a doctor’s certificate.
