What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN position at RIVERS EDGE HOSPITAL & CLINIC?
The nurse is accountable for the provisions of nursing care to all patients in the clinic and to delegate and coordinate that care as part of the daily responsibility. The RN will participate in staff orientation and development, and self-development. The RN will work with the provider to assure excellent health care and patient satisfaction during each patient visit, and to serve as a resource for the provider.
Responsibilities
- Assures clinic daily logs, safety checks and checklists are completed, including medication and supply out dates.
- Assures chart audits are completed.
- Collects initial patient complaints and submits to Chief Quality Officer/Chief Nursing Officer. May initiate Service Recovery actions.
- Attend and participate in meetings as required.
- Collects relevant patient data and maintains appropriate documentation in each patient record
- Assesses the demands of the patient's illness and the patient's potential for adaptation.
- Takes responsibility for assuring patient's needs are being met while in the clinic.
- Educates patients in self-care, prevention, medication, treatments, procedures, disease, symptoms management, etc. Uses available resources and assures that education needs are met for all patients.
- Takes pertinent vital signs on each patient and relays information to the provider.
- Rooms patients and prepares them for examination, treatments and procedures.
- Assist the provider with procedures: ear, eye, and wound irrigations, vision and hearing checks, removal of sutures, change dressings, catheterize patients, obtain throat and wound cultures, etc.
- Provide patients with instructions and educational materials.
- Give injections to patients of all ages.
- Clean and stock exam rooms.
- Clean medical equipment.
- Maintain and organize work area.
- Follow REHC policies and procedures.
- Maintain strictest confidentiality.
- Assist team members as needed. Assisting and understanding rooming of patients.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives as directed.
- Accountable and responsible for personal professional development, knowledge and skills through participation in continuing education.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist in the ED as requested by ED staff when available.
