Riverside Research's Applied Mathematics and Physics Solutions (AMPS) group is seeking a Microwave Engineer. Our team performs experimental and computational research in a wide range of diverse topics in physics. Current research interests include topics related to electromagnetic properties of materials subjected to high temperatures, propulsion for small satellites, and microstrip based plasma devices. The ideal candidate has a strong background involving microwave engineering, electromagnetics, and experience with the measurement of electromagnetic material properties in the microwave regime. The candidate will participate in work funded by Riverside's Independent Research and Development (IRAD) program, and work carried out under contract for the U.S. government customers. This is a full-time position in the Dayton, OH area.

Responsibilities
- Plan, design and conduct materials characterization measurements at atmosphere and in-vacuum
- Plan, design, and conduct experimental testing and validation of theoretical models and numerical simulations
- Carry out both independent and collaborative research
- Author and coauthor technical proposals, peer-reviewed journal articles, and internal and external technical reports
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience with microwave test equipment (VNA, Oscilloscope, etc.)
- Familiarity with microstrip and stripline circuits.
- Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment as well as work independently
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with material characterization or parameter measurement (e.g. complex dielectric/permittivity values) in microwave regime
- Knowledge of electromagnetic propagation principles and effects
- Preferred education and experience
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or closely related field with 4 years of experimental experience post-graduation, or
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or closely related field with 2 years of experimental experience post-graduation, or
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or closely related field with 0 years of post-grad experience
- Familiarity with commercial software packages such as COMSOL, HFSS, CST, etc.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance
