The primary duty of an EEG technician is to perform an EEG on a patient that is ordered by a neurologist. The EEG technician must know how to setup and measure the head. Apply the electrodes, monitor and continue to evaluate the patient. Obtain patient information, chart and communicate with the third party monitoring company. The EEG technician will be responsible for discontinuing, cleaning and setting up equipment in the EEG lab.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, though post secondary training is preferred.
Other Requirements: On-the-job training. BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
