Job description
Reporting directly to the Founder, the Senior Account Executive, Speaking Engagements, will dedicate most of their working time to securing speaking engagements for company speakers. Our client is looking to continue to build upon their success of booking speaking engagements in which 100% of the speaking fee goes to their nonprofit. The Senior Account Executive, Speaking Engagements, will strategically handle over 600 requests per year and build upon current relationships and develop new strategic ways to promote and book speaking engagements to benefit the nonprofit. Other responsibilities include the following:
Responsibilities
- Builds relationships with organizations from inbound speaking requests that come to the organization through their website, event tables, emails, social media messages, referrals, and more.
- Generates new cold or warm speaking engagement opportunity leads by researching events that require an inspirational keynote speaker or leadership workshop expert in industries, geographies, or event dates that are of interest to the organization.
- Cultivates strong and long-lasting relationships with speaker bureaus (talent agencies) who bring event opportunities to the organization.
- Provides superior customer service to individuals representing speaking engagements in an honest, caring, detailed, timely, and professional manner.
- Develops and executes detailed and sometimes unique contracts for speaking engagements. • Manages Salesforce CRM database of all speaking opportunities and contacts by logging notes and detailed information in account opportunities, creating informative reports, utilizing Salesforce apps that increase productivity, and creating dashboards that make priorities clear. • Negotiates speaking engagement contracts in a manner that brings higher value to the organization through revenue, partnerships, advertising, merchandise, or other agreements that generate value for one or both organizations involved.
- Leads multiple direct reports including the Fulfillment Manager to maximize the number of speaking opportunities and the depth of value the organization gets from each opportunity (e.g., book sales, additional speech opportunities while traveling to a particular city, etc.)
- Develops and implements long-term and short-term strategies for the organization that meets revenue targets through initiatives that account for internal and external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
- Leverages Salesforce CRM to develop automated and up-to-date financial forecasts of the speaking engagement pipeline in a manner that informs the Executive Team and their financial and investment decision-making process.
- Represents the organization in a manner that aligns with the organization’s core values • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
- Four to ten years of sales experience and/or training in the business-to-business industry with high-value accounts; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- He/she must be extremely detail-oriented and able to simultaneously manage dozens of business transactions and relationships.
- Ability to motivate and create a positive atmosphere with the Speaking Engagement Team in the midst of ambitious goals and internal and external challenges that arise.
- Honestly persuasive and appropriately emotional sales skills through empathetic communication.
- Decisive and strong communicator – both written and verbal.
- Ability to detect problems and potential trouble spots that would impede the ability to execute contracts/events.
- Strong time management skills through extremely detailed calendaring
