Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for immigration law, detail oriented, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorney in preparing immigration applications, petitions, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct legal research and compile information for attorney review.
- Maintain and organize client files, ensuring all documents are accurately filed and easily accessible.
- Draft correspondence, legal documents, and memos under attorney supervision.
- Conduct client intakes, gather necessary information, and ensure proper documentation.
- Coordinate and communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case status.
- Translate documents and communications for Spanish-speaking clients.
- Schedule and manage client appointments and court dates.
- Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, managing calendars, and handling phone calls.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating asylum clinics, including liaising with contract attorneys, pro bono attorneys, and law students to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Keep a meticulous record of client documents and case information, ensuring all records are up-to-date and easily retrievable.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or certificate in paralegal studies; bachelor's degree preferred
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.
- Experience as a paralegal, preferably in immigration law is preferred but not required
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm in all interactions, contributing to a collaborative and uplifting work environment.
