Job Posting for Procurement Specialist at Road Ranger, LLC
Road Ranger, a growing multi-state Travel Center company, is seeking a Procurement Specialist - Construction to join its Construction & Development Department. The primary role of the Procurement Specialist is to manage and execute the company’s equipment procurement process for new store construction and remodels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish relationships with new and existing strategic vendors for convenience store/travel center equipment and supplies.
Recruit new vendors as needed to ensure competitive pricing and a wide offering of equipment options.
Negotiate best pricing and terms with vendors.
Recommend equipment manufacturers and distributors to the VPs of Construction and Development.
Select brands of equipment for new stores and remodels via collaboration with Operations, Marketing, IT and Construction teams.
Determine lead time for all equipment and factor into ordering schedule such that all equipment arrives when needed to maintain construction schedules.
Prepare bid documents and manage bidding from suppliers and contractors.
Maintain databases of current equipment lists, pricing and lead times.
Execute all equipment orders using established corporate governance practices (minimum number of bids, purchase orders, etc.).
Investigate and follow up on any missed or delayed equipment shipments.
Establish best practices for all procurement processes and build in continuous improvement projects.
Identify potential software solutions for the overall procurement process.
Review procurement contracts and recommend changes as necessary.
Approve invoices for payment based on cross-referencing with purchase orders and confirming satisfactory delivery of product.
Communicate closely with VP of Construction and others on the Development and Construction teams.
Education & Experience:
3 years of relevant work experience required.
Construction or convenience store procurement experience highly preferred.
College degree a plus but not required.
Other Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work under pressure/deadlines; prioritize and handle multiple competing tasks and demands simultaneously.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other staff members to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Company.
Must possess a high degree of proficiency with a variety of relevant computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
Ability to learn other computer applications as needed (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CRM, etc.).
Must have the ability to interpret and apply rules, regulations, and ordinances related to planning, construction, and maintenance of assets.
Must be able to direct and assist vendors to meet project guidelines.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively in person, on the phone, electronically or through other means to individuals or groups.
Preferably a working knowledge of commercial building construction, commercial site construction, petroleum construction, and related projects.
