What are the responsibilities and job description for the DOT Spotter position at Roadrunner Freight?
Roadrunner is seeking a DOT Spotter with a Class A CDL. The Spotter is responsible for the movement of trailers to facilitate warehouse sorting and the processing of merchandise for shipment or storage. This position does require working in all weather conditions.
To be successful in this role you must have a strong focus on safety, teamwork and transparency. The Roadrunner mission is to run an efficient, partner-based LTL network that moves customers' freight consistently on-time and damage-free, and without errors.
Essential Duties:
- Operate yard truck in a safe manner during numerous roll-on/roll-off procedures daily involving loaded and empty trailers
- Drive and operate vehicle in and around the warehouse and storage lot/staging area
- Be aware that the operation is a low mileage severe duty function requiring attention to preventive and scheduled maintenance checks and services
- Responsible for accounting for records involving container numbers, gross weights, tire weights, and net weights on the scale log sheet to include source and type of material
- Must interact daily with warehouse personnel and comply with warehouse safety requirements
- Communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with dispatch, operations, and warehouse personnel
- Security and storage of valuable commodities will be a priority and may require guidance from supervisory personnel regarding disposition
