GENERAL RESPOSIBILITIES


The Grants Coordinator assists staff in meeting district goals through the identification of potential funding sources and the development of successful competitive grant proposals.


ESSENTIAL TASKS


The following duties are normal for this position.   • To work with teachers and administrators to identify school and district needs that may qualify for grant funding support
  • To identify appropriate public and private local, state, and national competitive grant opportunities
  • To maintain collaborative relationships with current or potential funding partners including foundations, governmental entities, universities and community agencies/organizations resulting in grant-funded projects that meet the needs of RCPS students and staff
  • To make recommendations regarding the feasibility of pursuing projects based on cost-effectiveness and prospects for securing funding
  • To consult with school system personnel to develop and refine grant proposals
  • To complete and submit grant proposals in a timely manner
  • To develop working relationships with grant contact personnel
  • To provide training and guidance to administrators in tracking and assessing the progress of projects funded through grants, and meeting grant funding reporting requirements
  • To communicate with school and district administrators concerning current and future grant applications
  • To secure School Board approval in a timely manner for competitive grant applications when required by RCPS policy
  • To perform other work as required


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Previous successful experience in writing and administering grant applications
  • Ability to develop and write grant proposals without direct supervision
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, project management, and leadership skills
  • Excellent knowledge of K-12 public education; experience as a classroom teacher and/or school administrator desirable
  • Understanding of the role of technology in research, teaching, and learning
  • Computer literate; proficient in Internet database search functions, Microsoft Office applications, and e-mail
  • Functional knowledge of commonly-used office equipment including mobile device technology, copier/scanner, and telephone, and work-flow technologies
  • Ability to maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task, work with interruptions, and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to be dependable and punctual


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Communications, Business Administration, or related field. Preference for current Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with Administrative/Supervisory Endorsement or related experience.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist, and reach for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate effectively – use of expressive and receptive skills
  • Lift or carry materials up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations
  • Must possess physical and mental capability for the sole supervisory responsibility of public school students


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Primarily controlled temperature and clean office environment.
