What are the responsibilities and job description for the Catering Staff - On Call position at Roanoke College?
Spring is a busy season for our catering team! We are seeking catering staff who can work flexible hours to service our robust on-campus catering business for special events. This position will perform various tasks associated with setting up, serving of food, bussing tables, and cleanup. This position is required to work evenings and weekends. Schedule varies depending on events. This is a part-time, temporary position not eligible for college benefits. Uniforms and non-slip safety shoe allowance provided. In addition, as a college employee you are able to use the campus facilities such as the fitness center and library, receive a discount at the campus store, have free admissions to programs and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply and enforce proper methods of safety and sanitation as instructed by the VDH and Dining Service management using effective communication skills.
- Serves as a representative of Roanoke College, displaying courtesy, tact and respect in all interactions with our students, members of the RC community and with the general public.
- Act as liaison between dining services and catering.
- Assists with waited table service, buffet lines, continuous break stations, and bars.
- Responsible for proper storing and disposing of all food after all catered events.
- Maintains cleanliness and order of the ballroom kitchen and areas where catering supplies are stored.
- Responsible for the care and returning of equipment after catering events.
No experience is required, but some catering or food service experience is preferred. COVID-19 vaccination is encouraged but not required.
