Our growing client is seeking a cost accountant to join their team. The Cost Accountant is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also work closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team to establish customer pricing. This position is for a talented Cost Accountant looking for a company experiencing substantial growth.
Major responsibilities
- Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results
- Create and manage the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
- Monitor the cycle count program and conduct physical inventories
- Execute standardized costing methodology for all domestic plants
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Make calculations of new and proposed product costs
- Decide costs of business activity, including raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
- Perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
- Analyze any changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Create internal cost audits
- Support audits and general ledger preparation
- Recommend costs and cost savings based on analysis
- Assemble reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
- Generate financial statements that comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Requirements
- Strong understanding of organizational accounting concepts
- Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
- Extremely detailed and analytical
- Great attention to detail
- Experience utilizing cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
- Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner
- 2 years of Cost Accounting work experience
