Robert Half is looking for IT Technician candidates who have the ability to interact with technical and non-technical users in an understandable and concise manner while solving complex technical issues. If you are a self-starter and enjoy solving problems and working in a positive, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you! As the IT Technician, you will work in the Flint, Michigan, region. This role is a long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity.
Major responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair issues
- Manage imaging and preparation for new computers
- Take responsibility for technology implementation projects and carry them out
- Keep track of equipment and collaborate on possible purchases
- Provide computer hardware support for PCs, laptops, monitors, servers, and other IT equipment, including diagnoses, repairs, rebuilds, and refurbishments
- Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, issues and remedial actions taken or installation activities
- Collaborate to test functionality and provide end user support
- Arrange for repairs through the appropriate vendors
- Take down, box and ship equipment that is outdated
- Interface with ticket submitters regularly and effectively
- Complete transferal of data from PC to PC and troubleshoot software/hardware as well as break/fix
- Handle disassembly, boxing, movement and setup/installation on site
- Comply with company quality standards to ensure sound electronic data records
Requirements
- High attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks to prioritize needs and expedite tasks upon request
- Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Hardware Troubleshooting experience
- Hardware & software installation experience
- Deep understanding of Basic Troubleshooting
- A certification in CompTIA A is a bonus
- 2 years of experience with PC and Mac hardware and software, and an understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN, and WAN
- Desired skills include an understanding of networking such as switching and routing
