Robert Half has partnered with a long-time client in the BWI Corridor to hire a Staff Accountant to join their team! Successful candidates will need to be capable of rising to a variety of challenges while juggling multiple components of month-end close. This Staff Accountant's duties will require preparing journal entries, assisting with monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger and payroll reconciliation. In this role, you will perform various internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, review schedules, and oversee an accounting operations teams responsible for payables and billing. How will you make an impact:
- Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
- Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
- Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
- Manage accounting and analysis of compensation account and incentive programs
- Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
- Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual audits
- Create various financial models and review unit productivity
- Take part in various department-wide initiatives
- Regularly maintain and reconcile journal entries
- Oversee, motivate and counsel assigned staff
- Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request

Requirements
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- 1-3 years of recent and relevant accounting experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or government accounting
- Journal entries experience desired
- Strong familiarity with account reconciliations
- Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical, time-management, and organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
