What are the responsibilities and job description for the Site Occupational Doctor position at Roche Holdings Inc.?
JOBPURPOSE
To provide functional leadership and direction for the management of Onsite Occupational Health (OH) Clinic enabling the achievement of first-rate performance executed through the functional strategy.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Reporting to Director of SHE, key accountabilities for the Medical Director, include:
- Management and oversight of all Occupational Health staff
- (currently 1 PT and 1 FT regularly scheduled nurses, and additional nurses, as many as 6-8 for special event programs)
- Manage, train and maintain onsite volunteer first aid team members (currently 10)
- Provide medical management and oversight programs for all sites (3) in Branchburg, the Pharma Little Falls campus, and program input and guidance to the Boston DIA site.
- Manages the selection and management of competent service providers (in-house or contractors) of Occupational Health services. (ex. Audiologists, Opticians, and Atlantic Health Systems, Robert Wood Johnson, Concentra Medical network of practice specialists such as orthopedics, radiologists, physical therapists, etc. )
- Participates as a member of the Roche Occupational Medicine Global Expert Team
- Standing member of this Community of Practice global team addressing Occupational Health, Employee Health & Well Being, Mental Health / Global EAP, Pandemic planning, etc.
- Participates in monthly meetings formulating Company strategy, benchmarking, and process improvements in these areas.
- Participates in monthly US Benefits Community of Practice
- Participates in Well Being Community of Practice
- Site representative for the Global Live Well Health Initiative
- Implementation, monitoring and reporting of Global Directive programs.
- Liaison with Medical staff at the Roche US Diagnostic and Pharma sites, such as Genentech, Indianapolis, Tucson, Pleasanton, Santa Clara, etc.
- Liaison with external Pharmaceutical Safety and Medical Group, a conglomeration of medical directors from the major pharmaceutical companies
- Liaison with Branchburg and Somerset County Departments of Health, and the Branchburg Rescue Squad
- Support local implementation and promotion of corporate-wide programs, services, and initiatives.
- Lead and/or support the development of a proactive OH vision, policy and strategy
- Implementation, oversight and management of Health Services Delivery including arrangements for clinical governance
- Where required, deliver licensed physician oversight, governance, management of quality assurance, and medical expertise to mitigate health risk of injury/illness for Roche Molecular employees and outsourced providers
- Work with sites senior leaders for sponsorship and other functions to ensure effective occupational health services and Occupational Health Care delivery is appropriately coordinated with Corporate and global business strategies.
- Responsible for development of sites health and wellbeing plans, working with Regional Health Promotion Lead to develop and share insights, emerging trends (key Occupational Health risks, physical and mental wellbeing) needs & Occupational Health priorities to ensure relevant plans and integrated delivery
- Business Continuity / Pandemic Planning
- develop and implement public health emergency plans to combat relevant public health issues
- implement strategic preventive strategies and medical monitoring protocols for responses to emergency situations that can cause acute or chronic impact to the health of employees / responders while maintaining business continuity
- Deliver subject matter expertise to key business leaders on health and wellbeing risks and opportunities
- Ensure appropriate protocols/processes are in place that deliver clinical effectiveness and to ensure relevant quality assurance
- Act as the Occupational Health representative for the company and maintain effective working relationships with key external bodies, agencies and stakeholders that influence the health and wellbeing policy landscape of Roche sites.
- Monitor, assess and influence developments in the field that could impact on company activities including legislation and emerging standards
- Provide Occupational Health subject matter expertise in developing standards, procedures and guidance
- Lead and/or support Occupational Health performance improvement programs
- Engage and interact with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the effective integration of Occupational Health processes to support business outcomes
- Ensure an effective, consistent, high quality employee Health and Wellbeing services are delivered to the Roche Molecular Business while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Provide supervision to clinic staff
- Ensure compliance with OSHA required Health Surveillance
- Provide input to site emergency / disaster response planning.
- Serve as the primary first aid responder, along with nurses and a team of trained volunteers.
- Assist in emergency medical training
- CPR/AED & First Aid Program compliance training, AED inspection protocol completion, leading team efforts.
- Oversee management of WC cases in coordination with Liberty Mutual
- Ability and experience to expand Health services offerings if needed (ex. to non-occupational health services)
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Medical Practitioner (MD/DO), licensed to work in the USA and possess or eligible to gain Medical License in New Jersey
- Medical License free of sanctions from any healthcare entity and payer.
- DEA clear of any restrictions or recent sanctions
- Post Graduate Qualification: Board certification or Board eligible in Occupational Medicine
- 5-10 years of working experience in Occupational Health
- Minimum 5 years Departmental oversight experience
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE (PREFERRED)
- 20 years of working experience in Occupational Health
- 15-20 years Departmental oversight / Director level experience
- Experience in outsourced vendor management
- Experience in employee health service delivery
