SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall management and direct supervision of the Patient Service Phlebotomist and Specimen Processors who are responsible for all in-patient medical services. Responsible for ensuring that all phlebotomy and specimen handling tasks and responsibilities are rendered in accordance with all state and federal policy provisions and regulations in addition to adhering to all SOPs’ and formal policies.

SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday 7am to 4pm
ATTRIBUTES
- Associates Degree preferred.
- Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
- Experience in phlebotomy, specimen procurement, processing and customer service required.
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises and is accountable for Patient and Customer Service patient and staffing needs.
Ensures adequate staffing levels. Posts schedules in advance. Approves subsequent changes to the schedule and communicates changes to appropriate individuals. Approves PTO requests; documents employee hours and authorizes timekeeping in KRONOS. Also responsible for supervising employee activities to efficiently handle the day-to-day workload. Lastly, the Supervisor is responsible for performing phlebotomy throughout the hospital when short staffed. - Responsible for scheduling employees for mandatory in-service requirements and communicates and enforces all policies and procedures. Also responsible for monitoring the overall performance of employees and prepares and delivers annual and interim performance evaluations and initiation of salary recommendations. Responsible for hiring, transferring, disciplining and terminating employees along with Human Resources. Responsible for channeling appropriate operational information to management and staff on a daily basis. Required to participate in operational meetings and conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Responsible for overseeing the collection of required date for Quality Assurance monitors. Participates in the analysis of QA data and initiates plans for corrective action if applicable.
Responsible for monitoring inventory and ordering of supplies for the department. Initiates corrective action to ensure acceptable budge performance. Responsible for overseeing staff in the development and evaluation of new products and procedures to increase efficiency and reduce costs where applicable. - Coordinates the equipment maintenance, result download, and account charge for bedside Whole Blood Glucose (WBG) testing. Participates in hospital staff WBG training.
Ensures the training of new personnel in required tasks and duties. Reviews, ensures, and documents technical competency with staff annually. Also coordinates the training of student interns in phlebotomy
Qualifications:
M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
