Job Summary
Using independent judgment and minimal supervision, serve as the primary service and resource person responsible for daily operation of the Information Center for Rock Valley College. Coordinate on-campus efforts for serving prospective students and their families. Must exercise advanced reasoning and critical and analytical thinking skills. Model excellent customer service to students, faculty, administration, staff and others through all methods of contact. Confidentiality and discretion are required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.
- Coordinate the daily activities of the Information Center; including phone bank, college switchboard and Information desk coverage.
- Coordinate the Student Ambassador program for both paid and voluntary positions.

Supervise student workers, including hiring and training.
- Create work and training schedules as well as incentive programs.
- Recruit, train, and retain volunteer ambassadors to provide campus tours and coverage for outreach events.
- Mentor and coach all ambassadors to be stewards of Rock Valley College at all times.
- Provide and model exceptional customer service at all times.
- Coordinate the campus visit programs.
- Plan and execute tele-counseling initiatives.
- Coordinate on-campus getting started advising for prospective students and their families.
- Create and deliver presentations to prospective students.
- Serve as the on-campus point person for prospective students’ needs.
- Make referrals to students for career advising, academic advising, and/or personal counseling.
- Be trained in and perform basic academic advising as needed.
- Assist the Director in the continuous improvement of Welcome Center services, based on data analysis and integrated with marketing strategies for the college.
- Track and document Information Center activities and provide monthly reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in the coordination of the Student ID program and issue student identification cards.
- Monitor the college website and publish Recruitment, Admissions, and Information Center resource information that is timely and accurate.
- Be cross-trained in all areas of the department and fill in when needed: application data entry, switchboard, campus tours, etc.
- Provide support for Online Services, RVC Mail and EAGLE in cooperation with other campus departments.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds or greater.
- Participate in emergency procedures during weather warning, bomb threats, closed college due to weather, and other emergencies.
- Some evening and weekend work may be required.
- Serve on RVC committees as needed.
- Provide outreach support to Enrollment Coordinators as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions.
- Be a steward of Rock Valley College at all times.
- Regular attendance is expected.
- Using tact and courtesy, the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required.
1. Demonstrated ability and skill in working with diverse students, faculty, and staff.
2. Experience working in a community college setting preferred.
3. Must have a valid driver’s license.
4. Knowledge of data collection and analysis.
5. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and other PC applications.
6. Strong oral and written communication skills.
7. Ability to work flexible schedule, if needed.
8. Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel (spreadsheet design and entry), database entry, Web page maintenance and ability to learn the college’s administrative software system.
9. Experience in admissions/recruiting, supervision, and event planning required.
