Veterans Affairs Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
Serve as the main contact for military veteran students and dependents utilizing educational benefits. Convert prospective students from application to enrollment through the management of recruitment and admission procedures.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Serve as the primary Financial Aid, Admissions, and Registrar contact for students who are military veterans or dependents of veterans receiving educational benefits; includes accurately reporting and updating veteran students’ credit hours and other required information to Veterans Affairs, maintaining meticulous records, ensuring compliance with University, OSRHE, state, and federal regulations, attending approved veterans training and conferences, and supervising VA work study students.
- Review and maintain degree plans for veterans and dependents of veterans receiving educational benefits.
- Prepare school bulletin and other required paperwork for annual SAA review, or when bulletin is updated.
- Prepare paperwork for annual school audit by VA or their designate.
- Assist students with completing FAFSA and other Department of Education documents necessary for them to receive the awards they have chosen of those they are eligible to receive.
- Advise students of their rights and responsibilities for all federal student aid.
- Manage a continuous case load of prospective students, transitioning them from application to enrollment at RSU.
- Ensure a smooth transition for students moving through various admissions stages to registration and matriculation.
- Build relationships between student applicants and the University.
- Maintain communication with student applicants through face-to-face interaction and Financial Aid and Admissions communication plans.
- Disseminate accurate information to student applicants in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with recruitment and retention teams to develop and carry out recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities.
- Perform all functions related to the admission of students in accordance with University and OSRHE guidelines.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the Registrar, the Vice President for Administration and Finance, or the President.

Must be organized and detail-oriented.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
Must be able and willing to work independently as needed, but employ a team mindset and positive attitude.
Strong personal computer skills and the ability to learn new technology are required.
Must be enthusiastic, professional, and a good ambassador for the University at all times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required.
One to three years of professional work experience in related fields preferred.
Experience specifically in higher education, financial aid, university admissions, and School Certifying Official duties preferred.
