Job Functions (Essential)

  • Plan and install measurement equipment for running and for upcoming engine development projects.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve measurement device issues on devices such as: emissions, instrumentation, Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), combustion analysis and other testing equipment.
  • Propose and implement upgrades of new measurement equipment technology to meet regulatory and testing requirements and to improve testing efficiency.
  • Analyze test results to validate equipment functionality to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal criteria.
  • Understand measurement devices’ calibration, quality control and calibration activities to meet regulatory and internal department requirements, including tracking and documentation.
  • Establish an efficient cross-functional network with the corresponding departments from other Rolls-Royce testing facilities, vendors, and institutions.
  • Provide necessary support to other departments such as: engineering, production, quality.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate vibrational testing on development engines.
  • Manage and communicate project status, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Keep a daily record of hours worked for budgeting and auditing purposes.
  • Promote a compliance culture in R&D, and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
  • Perform special projects as required.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering and 3 years of experience in measurements or emission engineering with internal combustion engines ; or 7 years of experience in measurement or emissions engineering with internal combustion engines
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and operation of emission measurement devices
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and operation of NVH measurement technology
  • Strong knowledge of the principles and operation of internal combustion engines
  • Strong organizational skills and highly proactive with initiating proactive measures and the ability to manage multiple jobs and projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills when problems are complex with a focus on root cause analysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to work effectively with others
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel - domestic and international
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Experience with engine emissions measurement equipment such as: AVL Puma, AMA i60, FTIR, XION/Indicom, diesel particulate measurement, smoke meter, particulate counter, analyzers, instrumentation, sampling systems, data acquisition system, NVH equipment, PLCs, etc.
  • German language skills

Daily work is performed in a general manufacturing, office, field service and test cell environment. Daily work is performed in an office and general manufacturing work environment. This position has a Monday through Friday work schedule, as business requires.

While performing tasks for this position, the employee is regularly requested to perform work on a computer inside and occasionally outside of the work environment. Also, the employee will occasionally be required to work in environmental conditions where there are fumes, unpleasant odors and gases. Please note, the conditions can be hazardous. Also, the employee will be occasionally requested to endure sufficient amounts of noise while performing tasks for this position.

While performing physical demands of the position, occasionally the employee will be occasionally requested to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and squat. Also, the employee will be regularly requested to sit within a particular work environment. Next, the employee will frequently be requested to walk inside and outside the work environment. Finally, an employee will be regularly requested to grasp and manipulate items in a maneuverable manner to perform daily tasks.
