POSITION SUMMARY
The Paint Detail Technician will prepare the truck for paint by taping and papering off areas to protect the interior of the cab during the painting process and exterior areas from potential damage. They must inspect the truck for flaws, dents, or imperfections and compare to the spec book to ensure standards are met. They will be expected to maintain the condition and quality of your tools.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Preps cab to be buffed.
- Sands out orange peel, dirt, and paint imperfections.
- Removes excess buffing compound and buffs cab to a brilliant finish.
- Inspects cab and identifies any paint imperfections and documents in build book.
- Maintain booth and equipment.
- Expected to use tools like a D/A sander and buffer.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

- Locate work orders and process them within the time allotment according to the work order, production schedule, and department objectives.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately and precisely.
- Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within ones production process and make the needed adjustments.
- Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
- Able to follow written and verbal directions and do so with a positive attitude.
- You recognize the importance and adherence to all safety policies in order to promote a safe working environment, for everyone at the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is in a general shop where different tasks are completed and has access to all welfare facilities. There is no AC located in the shop, so it is usually humid and sometimes wet in the shop. Also, with no AC, it can become extremely hot in the shop during the summer. It is rarely cold in the shop with the bake booth being constantly ran. There is also constant noise with all the machines that are used inside the shop, which can make it difficult to talk or hear. Besides noise, some of the machines produce vibrations when being used. Most of the hazards come from the chemicals in the paint but following proper procedures should minimize risk. There are constant fumes being produced by the pressure pots and spraying of paint causing a lot of airborne particles in the air. Sometimes there can be low light when working on some areas of the truck. Space within the shop can be confined, causing limitations on any movement. When working in this position, there will be times were climbing onto or underneath trucks may be necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires standing, walking, and the use of hands for the entire shift. The noise level of the Paint shop is moderate, so it is usually not difficult to talk or hear, unless near a running machine. During shifts, some projects require the use of feet, shoulders, arms, legs, fingers, and hands for over 60 minutes at a time. As Spot Repair, climbing ladders, stooping, or kneeling, and reaching are required to complete job duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus, and good depth perception. All positions require the ability to lift 50 pounds.
