Join Our Team as a Charge Nurse!
Role Overview:
As a Charge Nurse, you will lead and oversee resident care services during specific shifts or units. Your responsibilities include supervising nursing staff, ensuring quality care, and adhering to regulations and facility policies. You'll also provide direct nursing services according to individual care plans and physician orders. Support and guidance will be available from the administrator, director of nursing, medical director, and consultants. You will operate under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing.
Requirements:
Valid RN license in the State of Iowa
Proficient in written and spoken English
Effective communication and supervisory skills
Key Responsibilities:
General Functions:
Serve as an in-house expert on nursing standards, regulations, and ethics.
Model adherence to facility policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, resident rights, and other key policies.
Maintain confidentiality of resident, employee, and facility information.
Demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
Accept and execute assigned duties and instructions cooperatively.
Participate in in-service training and educational programs.
Collaborate effectively with residents, families, staff, and other service providers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Resident Care and Service:
Implement physician's orders and make rounds with physicians as needed.
Report changes in resident conditions and take necessary follow-up actions.
Document resident care and responses.
Identify and address resident problems and emergencies.
Administer and document medications and treatments.
Perform comprehensive assessments.
Manage admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
Ensure residents receive appropriate nutrition and care.
Assist nursing assistants as needed.
Handle resident and family concerns professionally.
Communicate with staff across shifts to ensure continuity of care.
Supervision and Direction:
Ensure compliance with facility policies and standards.
Plan and assign daily work based on resident needs and resources.
Provide corrective instruction and monitor staff performance.
Identify staff training needs and contribute to performance appraisals.
Monitor equipment and supply needs.
Physical and Emotional Requirements:
Engage in medium to heavy physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
Maintain physical equilibrium and balance in emergency situations.
Engage in activities such as stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
Review and process written information.
Observe and evaluate resident and staff actions and conditions.
Recognize auditory signals and verbal communications.
Interact with individuals in sensitive circumstances and manage emotional behavior professionally.
Environmental/Occupational Exposures:
Use protective equipment and take proper precautions against hazards.
Be aware of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemicals.
