Job Description
Rotating Machinery Services, Inc (RMS) is seeking a qualified Manual Machinist to work 1st shift and perform a variety of machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations, etc. on rotating equipment components (pumps, turbines, compressors, and more) and assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements. Essential Functions:
- Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting.
- Ability and willingness to work around and use large propane / acetylene.
- Ability to operate small lifts, pallet jacks and other lifting equipment (training will be provided on our specific equipment, but basic skills are required beforehand).
- Advanced oral and written communication.
- Advanced math skills to calculate tolerances and dimensions.
- Must be able to read and understand Blueprints and G-Code.
- Must be familiar with basic machining practices involved in turning, milling, drilling, threading operations.
- Must be competent reading drawings and following instructions necessary to produce usable and saleable parts.
- Must be able to hold tolerances as dictated by drawings, written instructions, or industry standards.
- Must be proficient with the use of, the care of, and the calibration of all types of measuring devices (i.e. micrometers (OD and ID), dial calipers, dial indicators, etc.).
- Must possess and provide basic tools required for the execution of the position of manual machinist.
- Must be able to comply with all safety directives and programs established by the Company and or our customers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution.
- 10 years or more of Manual Machinist experience required.
- OMEGA experience
- Proficient in running horizontal lathes, milling machines, VTL, and Bullard.
- Capable of reading drawings and proper use of calibrated measuring tools.
- Can hold tolerances of .0005".
- Read drawings and use of micrometers.
- Basic machining knowledge and practices required.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to stand and walk for significant portions of the shift.
- Ability and willingness to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs., walk, climb, reach, kneel, crawl, and balance.
- Must be able to use hands for assembly and tool.
- Must not have allergies or issues related to handling metals including aluminum, copper, bronze, and steel.
- The position will be based full time in our Houston Texas Shop (11410 Dumas Street, Houston Texas 77034).
