Position Summary

The IT Technician is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training and assistance where required.


Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance
  • Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal
  • Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform PC, hardware and peripheral equipment improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Provide training and support to end users and staff on computer operation and other issues
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products
  • Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, support tickets, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems
  • Maintain an inventory of all hardware


Minimum Qualifications / Skills:

  • Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including Network Switches, Printers, and internal PC components
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
  • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards, Windows 10, Microsoft Office, Network Cabling, TCP/IP, Ethernet
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides
  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required
  • Ability to work with and troubleshoot remote workstations


Including Formal Training (courses, degrees, and credentials required):

College diploma or university degree in the field of Information Technology and/or two years equivalent work experience

  • Occasional nights and/or weekends if required by a project or emergency
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will prolong periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
