Job Summary
We seek a highly skilled and detail-oriented Service Technician to join our dynamic team. This critical role demands a deep understanding and extensive hands-on experience servicing various equipment, including aerial platforms, heavy-duty and light-duty trucks, and construction machinery. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct meticulous and comprehensive assessments, diagnose complex mechanical issues, and expertly execute equipment repairs and upgrades for the units we lease, sell, and provide to our valued customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conducting comprehensive assessments, accurately diagnosing issues, and skillfully repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts for various utility equipment manufacturers. This is essential for ensuring quality standards are upheld while staying within budget. The tasks encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
- Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using pressure gauges, flow test equipment, and calibration devices to determine required repairs.
- Rebuild gearboxes properly with no rework within an acceptable time.
- Rebuild outriggers or boom lift cylinders properly with no rework within acceptable time.
- Perform an initial inspection of the unit and diagnostics, including parts requisition, without having missed or improperly identified items.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools as necessary.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- Raise vehicles and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists to inspect and repair in a manner that assures company quality standards are met.
- Track costs and prepare and maintain accurate parts, services, and labor records. This will ensure that vehicles are correctly priced and reflect the company's value for quality.
- Attend monthly safety meetings held by Custom Truck One Source.
Skills and Qualifications
- A valid driver's license
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- You must have your tools.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and a physical and audiogram.
- General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts are required. Knowledge of hydraulics, heavy equipment, diesel trucks, and farm equipment is preferred.
- General aptitude in working with standard computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to accurately record time spent on repair orders.
