rPlus Energies, LLC (“rPlus”) is a renewable energy developer based in Salt Lake City, UT with a focus on developing, financing, constructing, owning and operating strategically located, cost-competitive, large-scale renewable energy generation and storage projects that will support customers in achieving their clean energy goals while also contributing to the modernization of the bulk electric system. Since formation as a subsidiary of Gardner Company in 2018, rPlus has established a portfolio of over 30 projects across the U.S. representing nearly 10 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity, executed over 630 megawatts of corporate renewable PPAs, and commenced construction of its first utility-scale project, an 80-megawatt solar power plant in Utah.
Position Overview
The Program Manager (PM) leads a diverse team in determining the optimal method of organizing, planning and executing pumped hydro energy storage (pumped storage) infrastructure projects. The PM optimizes resource allocation inclusive of funds and personnel through the development phases leading to project financing and/or commercial operations, including FERC licensing, permitting, design, contract management and stakeholder engagement. The PM should anticipate traveling to project site(s) a minimum of two times a month, or approximately 25% to 40% travel.
General Responsibilities
- Safety: The PM sets the tone and reinforces with others an overall culture of safety in all activities.
- Develop the Project Execution Plan, ensuring the project(s) is aligned to and delivers in accordance with both internal and external customer expectations, methods, and milestones with a strong focus on creating value for the Company and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the technical and permitting teams to ensure the timely design, licensing and permitting of the project(s).
- Budgeting: Prepare project budget(s) for development, permitting, design, construction, and operations. Track and explain variances to the budget and create recurring reports on project progress and performance for management review. Control expenses, identifying and limiting the development phase risk exposure. Ensure the company’s contractual obligations are successfully and compliantly administered.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with local, state, and federal stakeholders for project(s) coordination and support. Monitor public policy, legislation, and regulations and their potential consequences for project development. Periodically attend local county and/or community meetings, school board meetings, and economic development (chamber of commerce) meetings, as the company representative, and provide feedback and information to Company management on local updates and any potential consequences to project development.
- Offtake: Gather and analyze market trends and electricity demand. Develop, as needed, project pro forma models that incorporate both revenue estimates and cost exposure.
Skill Requirements
- 20 plus years of experience with large-scale infrastructure projects, including at least 8 years of energy industry experience in project development, power systems management, project management, contract administration, and/or asset management.
- Experience with hydroelectric project and pumped storage development is particularly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required; Masters a bonus.
- Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software and project management software.
