Role Purpose Statement:

RPS is an oceanographic consulting firm seeking a highly motivated individual as an integral part of a team of specialized data analysts for a full-time position including benefits. We are seeking a self-starting individual with a positive attitude who can adapt to a fluid work environment and an occasionally demanding schedule. This person must be willing to learn, have an exemplary work ethic, think critically, be highly detail oriented, and communicate and collaborate effectively with the team.

The successful candidate will learn MATLAB programing and data analysis skills, as well as gain familiarity with many marine sensors and dredge operations. Quality assurance and control of marine sensor data, and the results derived from them, is central to this position.

Previous technical experience that would be valuable include an understanding of different mathematical problem-solving techniques for data analysis, some familiarity writing and implementing customized code, familiarity with timeseries datasets, experience working with interdisciplinary science and engineering teams, and familiarity with best practices for QC and analysis of real-time and in-situ time series data.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Oceanography, Earth Science, Environmental Science, or related field, plus at least 3 years working experience.
