What are the responsibilities and job description for the UX/UI Product Designer position at Ruggable?
The Internal/Operations Tech Team:
As a UX/UI Product Designer at Ruggable on the Ops Tech team, you will be responsible for designing custom web apps for our internal operations teams: both for hourly associates and salaried managers. This includes people who are manufacturing the rugs, shipping and fulfilling, customer service, and pulling from and adding to inventory. Users are onsite, making real-time feedback, user testing, and focus groups easily accessible. Ease of use with these apps is imperative to supporting our growing ecommerce business. The ideal candidate won’t be afraid to push the boundaries of traditional UX designs and methods.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Product & Design, this role will be responsible for producing low and high fidelity wireframes to support the Ops Tech team. Our team is very focused on measuring performance through analytics, and continuously looking for ways to improve our software by improving even the smallest of features. Keeping a pulse on the data and knowing our users will encourage smart decisions in creating the best user experience as well as design. This individual will be expected to develop a deep understanding of our users and our products, to empathize with pain points in the current user experience, and suggest and make improvements in alignment with the product strategy.
What You’ll Do:
- Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
- Work collaboratively with the project/product managers, software engineers, and users.
- Gain inspiration through exploring new design trends, themes, best practices, and patterns across all platforms– then determine how and if it should be implemented into the Ruggable experience.
- Always advocate for the user's needs. If there is ever a question or debate, dial it back and review our audience and data.
- QA all of your own designs once they have been developed. No one knows it better than you! Each design is QA’d before going live within the team.
- Help develop and maintain a style guide and UI library. The UI is based on material design, with tweaks to align with our brand. You will directly influence the design strategy of our internally facing applications.
What You’ll Need to Have:
Required:
- 2-5 years of experience in product design, UI design and/or UX design in a fast-paced environment.
- Degree in fine art, (industrial) design, interaction design, or related field. Equivalent work experience also accepted.

- Understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices, and the importance of enforcing this for a brand.
- Flexibility to adapt with changing timelines and deliverables
- Critical thinking, attention to detail, and integrity
- Ability to report into the office/plant on occasions.
Preferred:
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS
- Advanced prototyping skills
