Job Summary
Use of machine tools including, but not limited to manual engine lathe, knee mill, drill press, vertical turret lathe/boring mill and horizontal boring mill. Maintain machining tolerances to 0.001"; read and interpret machine drawings, imperial and metric dimensions. Read and operate various micrometers and other precision measuring instruments. General welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron and bronze using stick, TIG and/or MIG as required. Good communication skills with peers and supervision. Must be willing to work overtime hours including weekends/holidays as required to meet customer demands.
Qualifications and Skills
- High School diploma or Equivalent.
- Machinist certification or millwright apprenticeship. Welding vocational degree or equivalent experience.
- Machining/Welding 5 years.
Knowledge
Must be able to read and write English. Must have thorough knowledge in the preparation of and use of mills, lathes and manual machines. Must be capable of machining and fabricating parts per blueprints, bill of material, and sketches. Must be able to hold to tight tolerances per print specifications. Must be knowledgeable in welding parts, machining, quality control and safety. Thorough understanding of all company safety and environmental practices. Strong quality focus. Strong team player. Must be reliable, dependable, and able to work overtime as required and work under minimal supervision. Requires strong math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide, algebra. Must be able to read various mic’s to hold to tolerances as required.
