What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at RULAND MANUFACTURING?
Introduction:
Ruland is looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to build the business development department. It is a new position for Ruland due to our growth in a number of key high tech industries including robotics, semiconductor equipment manufacturing, industrial automation, and medical equipment automation. The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in fueling Ruland’s expansion by working with management to establish and implement processes, procedures, and metrics for the department. The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker who can effectively balance daily tasks and long-range planning. This Business Development Manager will initially be focused on North American based customers. As the role and department expands, there will be opportunity to work with European customers as well.

Roles and Responsibilities:
· Growing sales at existing customers by identifying new engineering contacts and working with them on new applications.
· Evaluate and make sales process improvements.
· Evaluate departmental staff needs for future growth.
· Research, identify, and develop prospective customers to find new opportunities.
· Meet with customers in-person or remotely to build relationships.
· Work with management to develop sales targets, forecasts, and build strategic sales plans.
· Work with marketing to build new and update existing sales collateral.
· Bring new product development ideas to engineering based on direct customer feedback.
· Document business development activities in Ruland’s ERP to allow for reporting and progress measurement.
Education and Experience:
· Proven experience finding and developing new business for 5 years.
· Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs and provide solutions.
· Proficient communication skills: interpersonal, listening, oral, written, and presentation.
· Strong user of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
· Have mechanical the mechanical aptitude to recommend solutions to customers.
· Bachelor’s degree in Sales or Marketing or requisite experience.
· Experience documenting progress in an ERP (e.g. SAP) or CRM (e.g. Salesforce).
· Must be able to travel nationwide up to 20% of the year
Desired
· Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial distribution environment.
· Experience building relationships with mechanical engineers.
· Experience researching and developing relationships at startups.
· Experience working as part of a new product development team.
