Summary:
The Gift Shop Manager, oversees day-to-day operations of the Gift Shop at Rush Oak Park Hospital, including inventory procurement and management, , sales., financial management. The Manager, Gift Shop creates monthly financials and conducts financial analysis of Gift Shop performance. In addition, the Manager, Gift Shop defines product assortment to maximize sales, controls inventory to maximize gross margin, and increases product turnover. The individual who holds this position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Job Responsibilities:
1.Tracks all inventory, conducts physical inventory at year end or as needed, compiles inventory and sales reports, and adjusts inventory levels as needed.
2.Continually monitors open to buy and other sales reports and reacts accordingly to maximize profitability.
3.Actively manages receipt flow in order to maintain proper inventory levels and limit shrinkage.
4.Responsible for pricing (and margin) strategies and for entering any price changes
5.Oversees the management of new and existing vendors and all special sales including negotiation of costs to maximize profitability.
6.Ensures that the proper balance and mix of inventory is maintained to meet/exceed sales goals, obtains gross margin goals, and maximizes inventory turn.
7.Works with finance to produce month-end financial reports. Reviews monthly statements and oversees open to buy and sales projection reports.
8.Asssiss with the financial analysis of Gift Shops to determine any changes to current sales strategies and managerial practices.
9.Actively participates in budget planning process.
10.Develops creative merchandise displays and sales techniques in conjunction with the select staff members, if needed.
11.Constantly reviews and updates overall layout of Gift Shop to refresh merchandise interest and maximize sales.
12.Monitors daily housekeeping/merchandising responsibilities to the staff to maintain a fresh, well-organized, and clean appearance of the stores.
13.Continually evaluates merchandise and new merchandise vendors to ensure merchandise embodies mission statement goals.
14.Continually analyzes the inventory to maximize full price selling opportunity.
15.Continually seeks out new potential customers within the hospital by participating in leadership forums and other appropriate venues to gain a strong understanding of patient and employee demographics and trends.
16.Presents yourself as ambassador and educator to the Rush Oak Park community of the Gift Shops mission:
17.Creates marketing/selling and visual plans to increase customer base and better serve current and potential customer base.
18.Works closely with Rush Oak Park Security to limit theft within the Gift Shops.

Required Job Qualifications:
Associated Degree with concentration in Marketing, Business, Retail Merchandising or a related area OR HS Degree and four years of retail management experience, preferably within a gift storeBuying and inventory management experience with financial acumen in retail math formulas and practices (such as open to buy, gross margin maintenance, sales projections, and budget preparation).
Basic accounting knowledge and understanding of Finance as it applies to the management of a retail operation.
Excellent customer service andcommunication skills.
Ability to multi-task and juggle a wide variety of responsibilities with the ability to prioritize appropriately.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Strong computer knowledge in a retail POS system, MS Word, and Excel.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift or carry objects 35-40 lbs.
