Summary:
The Unit Secretary is responsible for performing a variety of clerical functions to support effective communication and efficient operation of the unit. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of clerical duties to support patient care process.
Functions as a receptionist for the unit.
Orders and maintains adequate supplies for the unit.
Facilitates physician orders-orders tests, diets, lab work, charges, etc. via computer.
Maintains patient's paper chart.
Greets patients, visitors, physicians, etc.
Utilizes telephone etiquette and responds to phone inquires meeting customer services expectations.
Computer knowledge to do data entry, graphs, memos, etc.
Maintains clean and safe work environment.
Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement, as appropriate.
