Shop Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager to join our team and oversee all aspects of our fleet maintenance department. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with extensive knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance, as well as a proven track record of effectively managing a team of mechanics.

Duties:

• Lead and supervise a team of 5 to 10 mechanics, providing guidance, support, and motivation to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, including scheduling, prioritizing tasks, and allocating resources efficiently.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize the lifespan of our fleet.
• Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
• Manage inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels to support maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with other departments, including operations and logistics, to address maintenance-related issues and optimize fleet performance.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and expenditures, utilizing computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) as needed.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in fleet maintenance, incorporating new technologies and techniques as appropriate.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance management, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of truck and trailer systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve departmental goals.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software applications.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
