POSITION: Senior Sustainability Associate

JOB DUTIES:
Provide Support: Drafting Documents and advanced computations. Participatory focus on environmental resiliency, including outlining sustainability goals for projects and evaluating opportunities for certification. Understand and apply water management and nutrient loading principals in resiliency modeling and analysis. Evaluation of resiliency including modeling, reporting, monitoring, and other quantitative measurements. Demonstrate leadership analyzing sustainable design performance metrics with the goal of improving RVi’s sustainability practice. Coordinate with and complete edits and modify plans as reviewed by agencies, municipalities, and clients as directed. Complete site visits as required. Independently perform site walks. Communicate with Project Manager on workload status, schedule, and tasks in order to meet designated chargeability goals, as well as provide input for business development and proposals as it relates to sustainability. Employ ecological principles authentically in a wide range of environments including the center of redeveloping cities, changing rural landscapes, waterways and open recreational areas. Synthesize information about ecological processes and systems, human behavior, cultural/political institutions, and urban patterns. Utilize design precedent and research as a tool that actively informs design process and ideation Bring to life proposals visually utilizing technologies ranging from sketching and model-making to virtual reality simulations, all of which inform design decision-making. Create sustainable landscapes that are deep, inspiring, and just, and that work aesthetically, ecologically, socially, technically, and economically. Manage projects within a variety of contexts and at a wide range of scales, neighborhood playgrounds to streetscapes, parks, plazas, golf courses, greenways, watersheds, rural landscapes and national parks and forests. Manage projects and client expectations, to create places that are ecologically sound, sustainable, safe, inspiring and beautiful landscapes. Landscape architects use their design, visualization, and technical skills to help make places that meet a particular need or that heal a damaged landscape, that support human use and interaction, or that heal a community.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Sciences or related
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
4 years of experience working in a design office specializing in landscape architecture, urban planning, or environmental sciences with landscape architecture focus experience with advanced Urban design expertise to address issues related to sustainability and resilient landscapes experience with AutoCAD and GIS software, AdobeCS, Technical Writing, Revit and/or Lumion, MS Office, experience applying sustainability principles to creative problem solving in landscape design.
