Job Summary
Coordinates activities required to implement, maintain and support the Hospital Information System Applications. This includes primarily clinical applications, but may also include financial systems as needed. Reviews, analyzes, tests, debugs and install systems applications to meet user specifications and requirements. Will act as team leader on assigned projects.
Essential Job Functions
- Consults with and obtains input from all levels involved to appropriate solutions to satisfy business requirements. This includes identifying critical functions vs. non-critical functions, determining necessary controls (internal, external), identify
- Designs systems and/or procedures using sound application judgement. Considers future maintainability, impact on existing systems/procedures, capacity planning, and hardware/software requirements. This includes determining system conversion technique
- Codes and tests in an efficient manner, using up-to-date techniques and testing methods and vendor provided tools.
- Prepares logical test plans, test data, and coordinates test efforts with all involved. Documents all differences between expected results and actual results, and controls the testing cycles through user approval.

Formal Education and Job-Related Experience
- RN with Bachelors degree. IT experience a plus
- RN or LPN license
- At least five years general patient care experience, pediatric rehabilitation preferred.
- Two to three years experience with Health Information Systems or other computer systems.
- High degree of accuracy and analytical ability.
- Institutional clinical department operations/process experience and the ability to implement improvements.
- Pediatric rehabilitation patient care experience with a good working knowledge of day to day nursing activities.
- Exposure to multi-user Health Information Systems and hospital clinical procedures.
- Analytical design, planning and system conversion experience. Adaptability to perform a variety of tasks subject to frequency change, changes in production for priority reasons, and development of new operating procedures.
