Job Summary
Assists medical providers in pediatric ambulatory care and primary care settings by providing accurate documentation of medical encounters in order to ensure high quality, efficient clinical care.
Essential Job Functions
- Gather pertinent information from EMR before visits.
- Accompany medical providers into patient visits and thoroughly document encounters, including patient history, review of systems, physical examination, diagnoses, and treatment plan in the EMR.
- Ensure timely completion of medical documentation for providers to review and sign.
- Remind providers of orders or referrals that need to be placed, if necessary.
- Prepare handouts for patients and their families as requested by assigned provider.
- Perform other tasks as requested by medical staff or leaders in order maintain workflow.
- Ability to cross-train and provide coverage in different specialties.
- Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained in accordance with HIPAA laws
Formal Education and Job-Related Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor s degree in a science-based field strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working, volunteering, or shadowing in a medical setting required. Knowledge of medical terminology required.
- Computer literacy and advanced typing ability required. Experience with electronic EMR preferred.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and efficiently manage time in fast-paced environment.
- Tact and courtesy in dealing with others.
- Flexibility in working hours to coincide with assigned medical providers changes in schedules.
Salary:
- Hourly Range: $15.00-$15.45 per hour
