Summary
The Ryder Corporate Communications Summer Internship program will allow university-level students to apply their knowledge into current Ryder communications projects. The intern will develop a corporate business sense by learning how the global Corporate Communications department contributes to the overall organization, as well as crucial problem-solving and public speaking skills while attending business meetings and participating in projects. This internship is paid.

Essential Functions
Responsibilities will vary according to the area assigned, but will fall into internal, external, and community relations-related projects including:
- Create effective communication strategies
- Coordinate external and internal communications flow
- Write content for company website
- Write content for company employee intranet
- Write content for social media
- Communicate with news media
- Manage media inquiries and arrange interviews, draft statements, etc.
- Collaborate with marketing and creative services teams
- Support community relations projects within the Ryder Charitable Foundation
- Support employee volunteer effort
Additional Responsibilities
- General responsibility is to handle public relations activities including writing press releases, assisting with media requests, social media and/or advertising efforts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience and knowledge in copywriting, proofreading, AP Press Style, and copy editing
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Photo and video-editing skills is a big plus
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
- Experience in web design and content production is a big plus
- Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors)
- Personal initiative, ability to present and effectively interact with all levels of Ryder
- Demonstrates analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills to support multiple projects
- Ability to display confidence in learning new systems and processes quickly and establishing a strong customer rapport
- Strong PC skills (Windows, MS Office, MS Project, MS Excel) required
- PhotoShop
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college/university and working toward a Communications/Public Relations degree
- Junior or Senior level
- Ability to work remotely/virtually
- Part-time or Full-Time hours
- Ability to work in the United States
