What are the responsibilities and job description for the Journeyman Ironworker position at S & H Steel Co.?
Must have experience as a Journeyman Ironworker. Must have knowledge of connecting, rigging, detailing, and be able to pass a welding test. Must accept and comply with all safety, work rules, regulations and instructions, Safety is a Priority.
· Able to follow directions from the foreman or supervisor.
· Read and understand blueprints and project layout.
· Lift at least 50 pounds and stand for an extended period.
· Must have all proper tools. (tool list will be provided at time of hire)
· Measure and cut metal parts to exact specifications.
· Clean and maintain all tools and equipment to ensure they remain in good condition.
· Experience in welding NR-232 .068/.072 & 7018. (wire welders preferred)
· Knowledge of how to handle steel properly.
· Proficient in industry tools and equipment, such as hand and power tools and welding devices, ariel lifts, scissor lifts & forklifts.
· Use forklift to load and unload materials.
· Confidently be able to rig columns, beams, deck, frames canopies & stairs in a safe manner. (qualified rigger)
· Excellent communication skills must be respectful to foreman, supervisor, and coworkers and attention to detail.
· Install safety post and cable for temporary guard rail.
· Carry materials on shoulder to locations on site.
· Connect heavy columns, joist girders and beams using cranes, forklifts, chain falls, sleever bars, spud wrenches, beaters, drift pins, bull pins etc.
· Install bolts, bridging, ledger, X bracing, stairs, handrail, guardrail, catwalks, cantilever members, shear plates etc.
· Be able to push or pull materials into position.
· Ensure proper placement, balance, and alignment of structural pieces by using levels, laser tools or plumb bobs.
· Transform metal pieces into functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques.
· Access challenging work positions that are either at elevation or otherwise difficult to reach while following the proper OSHA regulations.
· Certified Welder (7018 or NR-232)
· OSHA 10 hour trained.
· Qualified rigger
· Qualified signalman
· Equipment Certifications: Scissor lifts, ariel lifts & reach forklifts.
· Must live in the greater Phoenix area.
Must be able to list a minimum of 50-75 lbs. and be able to be on feet for 8 hours or more. Company Paid Holidays & Sick Time.
