Tunneling Project Manager
S J Louis Construction is a large, nationwide underground water and sewer contractor with an immediate need for an experienced Project Manager for our Tunneling Division .
Experience and knowledge of various trenchless methods is a plus! Methods include, but are not limited to: jack and bore, pilot tube (guided) auger boring, pipe ramming, tunneling, micro-tunneling, hand tunneling in rock and soft ground conditions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assists with estimating and bidding process for trenchless projects.
- Supports company policies while working with employees, owners, and subcontractors to obtain commitments regarding proposed bids.
- Consults with clients and vendors to formulate estimates.
- Reviews plans/specifications, perform take-offs, review geotechnical reports and organize information for peer review/discussion.
- Conducts reviews of lists of work to be performed by subcontractors, final estimates, schedules, and total estimates of projects being estimated.
- Manages all areas of a project from start to finish within our scope of work.
- Travels to the job site before, during and after construction.
- Ensures safety on the jobsite.
- Sets and maintains project budget.
- Controls project costs.
- Provides monthly updated cost to complete on projects.
- Responsible for Project scheduling.
- Prepares, Reviews and Submits Submittals.
- Completes subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Submits and reviews change orders.
- Approves project invoicing and tracks project billings.
- Prepares and submits pay applications.
- Prepares and processes RFI's, RFC's, etc.
- Initiates prequalification and minority requirements for tunneling projects.
- Participates in the review of bids.
- Solicits quotes from subcontractors and suppliers for upcoming work and/or bids.
Qualifications
- Qualified candidates must possess at least 5 years experience with heavy civil projects; 2 years of which is in trenchless construction.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management/Engineering; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven organizational and planning capabilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient with HCSS, AutoCAD, Primavera (P6), Word, and Excel.
- OSHA 10-hour, competent training a plus.
- Travel is required
