Who We’re Looking For:
Are you an energetic, innovative people-person who is well versed (2 years) in human resources, especially with building relationships, onboarding, and retention.
You’ll join our growing HR team and will be responsible for a variety of aspects of human resources, including coordinating with our recruiting department, leading onboarding, providing compassionate and empathetic support of employees, and assisting the HR and Safety team in a multitude of areas, including pay contracts, benefits, and retention. If you enjoy building relationships, and a fast paced environment – this is the job for you! You will work with upper management and become the company “go-to” resource when it comes to new and existing team members. You have a deep sense of compassion and understanding for discretion and communication around managing leaves of absence.

Duties:
- Acting as a liaison between drivers and management.
- Lending an empathetic ear and caring heart while exercising discretion.
- Building relationships with company leaders to strategize recruitment & retention, as well as HR compliance best practices; market opportunities, analyzing competitive compensation packages, fostering new team members into the company culture, and strategizing company procedures to develop and retain employees
- Completes special projects by clarifying project objective, setting timetables and schedules, conducting research, developing and organizing information
- Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices, monitoring job offers and compensation practices, emphasizing benefits and perks
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Maintaining knowledge of current trends relevant to human resources to advance existing skills
- Be the primary backup for pay contract and benefits questions, including; bonus/incentive pay, and benefit changes
- Ensuring that S & S Transport is in compliance with federal and state laws
- Rolling with the punches with whatever other task comes your way
Requirements:
- Two years or more of progressively responsible related experience in a human resources department of a medium or large organization required, or relevant equivalency
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of human resources, including: leave administration, employee relations, retention, benefits, payroll, safety, recruiting, training, and compensation management
- Extensive process improvement and strategy experience in an HR setting
- Strong technology and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment, work on a team or independently, ability to manage relationships with Directors and Senior Management
- Experience building and maintaining a consistent employee-related policies and procedures
- Self-driven to achieve goals; high energy level is essential, as well as a strong, dedicated work ethic
- Flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to be a working member of the HR team
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Love-To-Haves:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
- 2 years of effective Human Resources experience
- Bonus points for transportation industry knowledge
- Knowledge of ADP or other HRIS systems is a plus
- Knowledge of TMW or other transportation systems
Physical Requirement:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 lbs. periodically
