What are the responsibilities and job description for the Official Scorer position at Sacramento River Cats?
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Possess exceeding understand of the rules of Major League Baseball.
•Follow on-field action and effectively enter scoring detail onto scoresheet.
•Communicate with Stat Stringer on official calls and in-game substitutions.
•Communicate with control room and other press box staff about key events during game.
•Coordinate with Stat Stringer and River Cats staff to help ensure an accurate accounting of each game.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Must have strong work ethic, results oriented, and ability to go above and beyond what is necessary to achieve success.
•Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
•Strong team player, self-starter and self-motivator.
•Previous professional sports, preferably baseball, experience.
•Willingness to work long, irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Education and Experience:
•Industry experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
•Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
•Must be able to travel.
