Opening Spring 2024, our spacious tasting room overlooks the vineyards, farm, horse pastures, and flower gardens. Saddlehill is set to become a distinguished destination with a 175-seat farm-to-table kitchen and tasting room. Opening for lunch and dinner, our establishment will serve menu items crafted primarily from farm-produced ingredients. As part of our retail offerings, we will sell our estate-crafted wines and a variety of foods made from ingredients grown on-site, including jams, sauces, spreads, and honey. Assistant Manager | Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic & motivated Assistant Tasting Room Manager with a passion for food & wine, who can support the General Manager with the day-to-day operations and can lead all aspects of the shifts at Saddlehill Cellars.
Essential Job Functions include:
- Supervises daily operations of our Tasting Room and assists General Manager with day-to-day operations
- Ensures all front of house staff such as wine tenders, servers and hosts are following items on daily opening, closing side work and cleaning checklists.
- Ensures that all standards are being followed to provide the best customer experience including 'intangible' items in the tasting room such as making sure music is correct level, lighting is correct, etc. to ensure the best customer experience.
- Ensures staff is following steps of service and correct service procedures at any given time
- Ensures seating is done efficiently and controls flow of customer
- Is able to motivate and lead front of the house staff to ensure a positive guest experience
- Assists and supports service staff on the floor as needed
- Ensures front-of-the-house shifts are covered according to business, and adjusts as needed
- Communicates with the kitchen staff effectively to ensure food is delivered in a timely manner
- Able to interact with our guests in a positive and passionate way through table touching and can make comfortably wine & food pairing suggestions
- Ensures staff is aware of new procedures, new merchandise, specials, events & more.
- Assists with all front of the house training including cross training staff to ensure service runs without issues
- Cash handling/daily closeouts of staff.
- possesses basic Wine Knowledge of wine regions, grape varietals.
- Wine Certification (CSW, WSET or Court of Master Sommeliers) a plus
Qualifications:
- 2 years previous management experience in a restaurant/ winery environment preferred
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English
- Able to stand, walk for longer periods of time.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to create a positive and engaging environment for guests.
- Strong knowledge of food and wine, with the ability to make informed recommendations and pairings.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with guests
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexible schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards in the food and beverage industry.
- A passion for the hospitality industry and a genuine desire to provide an outstanding dining experience.

Lunch Hours 10.30- 5pm. Dinner Hours: 5-9pm
