General Description: 

This position contributes to the overall mission of Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center (SHCAC) by providing direct and indirect therapy services to child victims of severe abuse, including sexual abuse, and/or who have witnessed a violent act, and their non-offending families and caretakers. The full-time therapist is responsible for intakes, assessments, evaluations, treatment planning, and delivery of services, maintaining of clinical records as established by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, and upholding confidentiality and code of ethics for their perspective discipline. The therapist will participate in a multi-disciplinary team, case consultation, and peer review and in any legal proceedings as may be required. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The therapist will provide a therapeutic environment and setting appropriate to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children served. The therapist will accept and process referrals from members of the SHCAC Child Protective Investigative Team (CPIT).

The therapist will provide direct and indirect therapy services to children and their non-offending caregivers which includes but is not limited to: 

 

  • Crisis Counseling utilizing best-practice trauma-focused modalities, including evidence-based TF-CBT, EMDR, PCIT and others when and where appropriate 
  • Assessment and evaluation of counseling needs 
  • Development of a treatment plan(s) with individualized goals and objectives for each client 
  • Provide individual and family/caregiver therapies for the abused children we serve 
  • Consult with the Child Protective Investigative Team members, attending CPIT meetings whenever possible and serve as a consultant to our CPIT members as needed 
  • Provide referrals for other services and resources as deemed necessary 
  • Consult and serve as a resource for other agencies when requested or as may be necessary 
  • Participate in any legal/judicial proceeding as may be required by Court Order 
  • Maintain clinical records as required by the State of Tennessee Dept. of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Outpatient Facility and Licensure Board, as well as SHCAC Policies and Procedures in accordance with the National Children's Alliance recommended practice model 
  • Serve as Mental Health Representative on the Child Protective Investigative Team in each of the four counties of the 4th Judicial District (Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson, and Sevier) in lieu of the Clinical Director 
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service trainings, peer review and other job-related conferences, workshops, and professional meetings as may be required to maintain and further licensure 

 

Administrative Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Collect data, prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as any special reports regarding the Therapy Program that may be required 
  • Assist the Clinical Director and the Executive Director in reviewing and monitoring the Therapy Program to ensure compliance with all established state licensure and federal guidelines, grant/funding requirements and compliance with standards established by the National Children's Alliance 

 

Other: 

  • Provide training and education to other CPIT members, professional and lay groups in the 4th Judicial District service area 
  • Develop liaison relationships and network with professional organizations and agencies in our community and surrounding districts 
  • Data collection and reporting (as may be required) 
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Clinical Director and/or the Executive Director 
  • Clean criminal background checks and personal/professional references will be completed prior to any employment being approved 
  • Reliable transportation and a "clean" driving record are required 
  • Honesty, dependability, trustworthiness, and client confidentiality are paramount 

 

Pay Information: $45,000 - $52,000/year, depending on training, experience, and licensure status 

 

Schedule 

  • 37.5 hours weekly 
  • Monday-Friday

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing and comfortable presenting to groups. 
  • Licensed mental health professional with two or more years of experience, preferred.
  • Professionals working under supervision of a licensed clinician and working toward licensure with relevant experience equivalent meet minimum requirements.  
  • Preference given to Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT). Master's Degree required in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services or other related degree and preference given to those possessing two (2) years of clinical practice specifically geared to working with children and families in the provision of individual and family therapies 
  • Specialty training and experience in the child abuse field with particular emphasis on Child Abuse and Trauma, including TF-CBT, EMDR, and/or art/play therapy is preferred, but not required. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint as well as social media platforms.
