Description: Safe Yakima Valley is a youth substance use prevention organization located in Yakima, Washington. Our mission is to mobilize individual citizens, families, neighborhoods, and organizations in collaborative efforts to create safer communities. Safe Yakima's coalitions will accomplish this by building and sustaining a drug-free community in which our youth feel protected, confident, and empowered to make healthy choices. We want to transform the environment around our youth so their mental health needs are supported and the drug-free choice is the easy choice.
Position Summary: The Community Coordinator reports to the Executive Director. The Community Coordinator will help oversee the Partnership for Success services and activities, including training, communication, and information dissemination. The Coordinator will also serve as liaison between the project, coalition members, and community stakeholders; coordinating procurement activities, master scheduling, and deployment of program resources. The Coordinator will work in tandem with the other Coordinators in support of community planning and development activities. The Coordinator also promotes active and broad participation by volunteers in all areas of organizational work. The Coordinator will maintain official records and documents, ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, and maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends addressing substance use disorder. The position is full-time position.
Job Duties:
· Responsible for timely completion, collection, storing, and compiling of project documentation and reporting back to Safe Yakima.
· Attend and participate in Coordinator orientation and other grant required events.
· Attend and participate in countywide planning meetings.
· Maintain no less than 85% attendance/participation in planning to ensure consistent input and management & attainment of Grant Goals.
· Responsible for scheduling, organizing, developing an agenda for, leading, maintaining meeting minutes and providing feedback to the Sector Representative meetings.
· Ensure adequate data collection for evaluative purposes, consistent with reporting requirements for the National Outcome Measures and local evaluation.
· In coordination with PFS Partners, ensure that all objectives and goals as outlined in the action plan are addressed and met consistent with established timelines.
· Work with the Safe Director, REACH coalition members, and other community members to develop and implement evidence-based strategies which discourage use/misuse of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and other drugs.
· Maintain and update program & outreach collateral.
· Maintain confidentiality at all times.
· Plan, develop, and implement media campaigns, social media program initiatives.
· Attend required training and meetings.
· Train other PFS staff as requested.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Office in which employee maintains work space must be located within community served by employer. Community travel is required to provide face to face communication with community members; to attend other community meetings and events; to provide training and technical assistance and participate in mentoring strategies and activities. Statewide travel is required occasionally. Attendance at meetings and prevention activities may require working evening and irregular hours. Access to guaranteed, reliable transportation is required. Occasional physical effort may be required to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Knowledge of and familiarity with the community.
· Demonstrated ability to organize community groups and to work cooperatively with a variety of people and agencies, public groups, and contract agency personnel.
·Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, able to work independently and able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks by deadlines.
· Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
·Ability to develop and monitor prevention trends, local conditions in the community, collect, analyze, and distribute data on a consistent schedule.
·Possess group facilitation skills, including, but not limited to: organizing and facilitating coalition meetings, task force committees, ad hoc committees, and all other designated meetings needed to implement the mission statement, goals and objectives of the organization. Assist as needed with Community Sector Representative meetings; attend mandatory and optional meetings at state and federal level.
·Well versed in the disease of addiction and familiar with local conditions related to substance use disorder locally. Familiar with prevention, treatment, and recovery disciplines.
· Proven ability to work independently and prioritize several on-going assignments within contractual requirements including deadlines.
· Requires working at various program sites. Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel within the area served by Safe with occasional state-wide travel.
· Highly organized and collaborative.
· Ability to take initiative, dependable, flexible, and resourceful.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Google Docs/ Calendar and Internet usage.

Additional Requirements:
· Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driver’s abstract is required prior to employment.
· Auto insurance with minimum liability coverages of $100,000/$300,000.
· Ability to pass Washington State Patrol Background check and any further established background requirements.
· Able to work some evenings and weekends.
- Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) preferred.

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required.
· 3-year minimum experience working in similar projects and communities.
· Must obtain Certified Prevention Specialist designation within 12 months of appointment.
