What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Technician position at SAFEbuilt?
- Daily processing of ROW or design survey data
- Perform deed research, deed plotting and map checks, including the ability to perform mathematical calculations using algebra, geometry and trigonometry
- Read/interpret plans, deeds, plats, road/bridge standards, and property records
- Prepare survey plats and drawings, legal descriptions and alignment drawings
- Perform quality control checks of plats and drawings prepared by other technicians
- Ensure schedules and productivity objectives set by supervisor for survey deliverables are achieved
- Provide technical office support for field crews
- Perform field work as a field supervisor or Party Chief as needed
- Schedule and perform maintenance of field survey equipment (data collectors, GPS, robotic total station, level, etc.).
- Schedule and oversee survey vehicle maintenance and repair activities
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal/external customers and follow oral and written instructions
- 10-15 years of field and office experience in route survey projects, design survey projects, boundary analysis, DTM projects, and construction layout
- S.I.T Certification is a plus however, is not necessary.
- Proficient in technical math, including geometry, trigonometry and coordinate transformations
- Proficient computer and technical skills or the ability to learn, Auto CAD and Civil 3D
- Experience with MicroStation is a plus however, is not necessary
- Strong listening, writing and verbal communication skills
- Proven work history, strong work ethic and team-player attitude
- Ability to perform day to day task with little to no supervision
- Knowledge of surveying principles/practices to include location, right of way and construction survey activities
- Advanced skill in the use of surveying instruments/tools, including programmable calculators and electronic data collection equipment
- Valid driver’s license required
