Food Clerk/Cashier

PURPOSE:

Provides courteous, efficient bagging, carry-out and general customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly, courteous service. Maintains a friendly and cooperative working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.

*Assists customers with product location, unloading carts, bagging orders, and providing carry-out service as required.

*Verifies prices, returns merchandise from checkstand area to display area, retrieves shopping carts from parking lot, ensures adequate supply of bags in the checkstands.

*Responsible for maintaining company cleanliness and safety standards in checkstand area, store aisles, restrooms, entryways and parking lot. May water plants and flowers.

*Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.

* Other necessary and required duties.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

*Requires good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to show tact and courtesy, and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers.

*Ability to frequently lift and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 55 lbs. Ability to push, pull and maneuver shopping carts. Requires manual dexterity skills and good eye-hand coordination. Ability to stand, walk and move rapidly for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, and reach frequently.

*Ability to learn product location, proper bagging procedures and company policies. Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe completion of work activities. Requires some exposure to varying weather conditions for performance of outdoor duties. Potential hazards exist with respect to traffic in the parking lots, maneuvering shopping carts, and varying degrees of traction on indoor and outdoor surfaces during inclement weather.

*Incumbent may stand for long periods of time.

*Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.

*Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

*Work is performed in both temperature-controlled store environment and outdoor weather conditions.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
