SAIC has an opportunity for a Cyber Security Database Administrator! The successful candidate will provide support to the Cybersecurity Integrity Center (CIC) in the Department of State Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM). Duties are in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area (30% in downtown D.C; 70% in Beltsville, MD). The CIC supports cybersecurity monitoring, threat analysis, incident response, and infrastructure remediation within and across all of the State Department’s information technology (IT) infrastructure. The CIC coordinates and collaborates with other State Department bureaus as well as other organizations within the Federal Government, and commercial partners. Work is performed in a 24x7x365 operation and shifts available are to be determined.
The position may allow temporary hybrid remote work due to Covid-19. Position may be called back onsite at any time at the customer's request.
Primary Duties
- Establishes database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
- Specific responsibilities of the Database Engineer include working with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the clients entity relationship and flow of data. These responsibilities include:
- Developing the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model;
- Making recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery is maintained.
- Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.
- Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.
- Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
- Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; may accept additional experience in lieu of degree
- Experience administering databases and/or data management systems that allow for the secure storage, query, protection, and utilization of data. Provides highly technical expertise and guidance in the design, implementation, operation and maintenance
- Experience with RMF Cybersecurity Engineer - Database
- Experience with Security Assessment Report (SAR)
- Experience with Security Assessment Results Table/RTM (Appendix in SAR)
- Experience controlling the global view of databases and access to the databases, assures the safekeeping of the databases (from accidental or intentional damage or loss), and monitors the use of databases
Clearance Required
- US Citizenship
- Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
- Active Top Secret is preferred
